Beta Version: Meat Magic BBQ (easy ingredients)

I finally had the courage to try cooking bbq with meat magic.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of meat magic
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • Ground Pepper
  • 2 Cups Water
  • Barbecue sauce or marinade (this time I used Clara Ole bbq marinade though next time I will prepare my own: soy sauce, pepper, muscovado, tomato paste)
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small pot, put 2 cups of water, 2 tbsp soy sauce, ground pepper, 1 tbsp sesame oil and bring to a boil.
  2. When the mixture boils, add 2 cups of meat magic.
  3. When the meat magic is tender enough, turn off the heat.
  4. Wash, drain and squeeze the liquid from the meat magic (dont worry, it’s okay)
  5. Prepare bbq sauce and add to drained meat magic and flatten the meat.
  6. Heat a grill pan and add 1tbsp cooking oil just enough to cover the surface.
  7. Put the marinated meat magic and turn each side when you see it’s properly grilled. (it does not take long to burn the meat magic so always check it and turn upside down)
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Misua Patola with Meat Magic

Rainy season is here and so we crave for “tag-ulan” comfort food and ulam. When we were omnivores, one of our favorite dishes is misua patola with meatballs. Being vegan, I believe we can still enjoy our favorite food without harming any animal. 🙂 We used meat magic for this dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Medium Patola sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 1 pack misua
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Vegetable broth/ Hugas bigas
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Meat Magic
  • Sesame Oil
  • Soy sauce

Meat Magic Preparation:

(you may prepare differently or follow the instructions at the back of packaging)

  • Boil a cup of meat magic in one cup of water
  • Add soy sauce, pepper and sesame oil
  • Turn off heat when meat magic is tender enough
  • Drain and set aside

Cooking Misua Patola

  • Saute garlic and onion and add the meat magic you prepared earlier
  • Add the sliced patola
  • Add Vegetable broth/ hugas bigas, depending on how much soup you like
  • Let it simmer until the patola is cooked
  • Add the misua
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Let it simmer for few more minutes until you see the misua is ready (and not soggy!)
  • ENJOY! 🙂

Vegan Finds

Meat Magic that’s really magical

We discovered this meat substitute when we dined at Little India in Quezon City.

This bag of 1 kg costs PHP 295.

To prepare, you will need to soak the meat magic in hot water or marinade of your choice and cut to prepare for cooking.

When you buy from Little India, they will give you a small recipe booklet (tip: at the back of the packaging, you will also find cooking instructions. 🙂
